Polish push to remove Soviet monuments from public display

" According to one of the Soviet officials who helped orchestrate the fraud, the Democratic Bloc had actually won about 50% of the votes at most."

Hearsay from someone committing the fraud? Totally legit! And the citation is a dead link to boot.

Notice that no opposition party actually had the votes to win, fraud or not. I can see how the Communists bent the results to make their majority appear bigger than it was; but they would still have won regardless.

Notice that there are only left wing parties, because everything else was banned. And then you must have totally skipped over this part:

The election law, introduced before the elections, allowed the government – which since its establishment in 1944 by the Polish Committee of National Liberation had been dominated by the Communists – to remove over half a million people from the electoral rolls, under false accusations of collaboration with the Nazis or 'anti-government bandits' (i.e., Armia Krajowa and other Polish resistance movements loyal to the Polish government in exile). Over 80,000 members of the Polish People's Party were arrested under various false charges in the month preceding the election, and around 100 of them were murdered by the Polish Secret Police (Urząd Bezpieczeństwa, UB).

Basically, even had the election itself been conducted fairly, it was a non-choice. Any genuine opposition was long since intimidated or suppressed by this point.

You should not be attacking me for teaching you real history.

I'm sorry, but you've basically constructed a fairy tale narrative to fit your worldview, based on the most threadbare scraps that fit, and ignoring everything else.
