Popehat discusses Bahar Mustafa and anti-free speech laws in the UK

First, you censorious Guardians of Feels on the Left: if you thought that the norms you created wouldn't be used against your "own side," you're fools. It is apparently your theory that the law is sexist, racist, and every other -ist, driven by privilege and wealth, and that free speech norms serve to protect rich white guys — yet somehow exceptions to free speech norm will be imposed in an egalitarian, progressive way. That is almost indescribably moronic. Go sit in the corner and think about what you have done.

first: no, it is our demonstrable theory that the law makers, practitioners, and enforcers have tendencies to utilize laws in ways that are beneficial to their racist, sexist, and other -ist leanings. a law, in and of itself, can't be racist because a law isn't a sentient being that is capable of thinking racist thoughts. this is the same as people who think the left believe guns, in and of themselves, are committing murders; it's a blatant obfuscation of what someone is trying to say, basically derailing any and all arguments into petty fights over semantics.

secondly: the norms we created? I'm not aware of any majority in the Guardians of Feels asking for people to be arrested for tweeting dumb shit and stupid jokes. over and over and over again, the whole point has been about targeted attacks and harassment. you yourself, mr. white, have even agreed that #killallmen has absolutely no reason to be taken seriously and is very clearly a dumb in-joke pointing fun at the mythos others hold of feminism, that feminists are this big scary force wanting to destroy everything male.

so why are you under the assumption that what is happening to Mustafa is even remotely what any semblance of a majority on the left have wanted to happen to others?

obviously this question will go unanswered, i just needed to get all that out there because it's frustrating that this image of the left wanting to put everyone in jail for dumb internet jokes has become so prevalent that even someone like ken white, who I just generally assumed was pretty intelligent, seems to believe in its validity.
