Sorry to break it to you, but the electoral college is not a loophole, it's been around since the founding of the country, and without it we would never have gotten to where we are. Smaller states would never have given up their independence to join a union where their voices are completely washed out by a few larger ones. Population still gets a huge benefit in the House.

There has also never been any time where the popular vote was even close to 35-65 since the 1820s, nor any where it changed the result of an election. 2016 was the largest margin of losing the popular vote while winning the electoral college, and Trump only had 2% fewer votes than Hillary.

The two parties are way more balanced than you seem to think. There is no cabal of some tiny elitist and religious minority, it is literally half of the country.
