Protein tho

Oh okay, so cutting is something done by people who have too much weight and want to lean up? What's the process, reducing caloric intake and exercising more?

Why would you have an hard time in a sedentary lifestyle with a diet that provides you enough proteins to maintain an active lifestyle? I fail to understand your logic, because if you were living a more sedentary lifestyle you would probably crave different foods at different times according to your physical needs. Also, different people and different lifestyles equals different metabolisms, studies are made for "stardardized" metabolisms so they only serve as reference in the pratical sense, if your lifestyle changes so does your metabolism. Why not focus on weekly protein intake for example, or monthly protein intake, rather than worrying on a daily basis if you ingested the right amount of a certain type of nutrient? It's not like you'll die from not eating 10g less of proteins than what is officially recommended. Keep in mind that as time passes and as your research continues, the recommended amounts of nutrients will probably change drastically, so where does that lead in the long run? Ultimately, these things are made to be looked at only as a reference and nothing else. Nutrition is a science, and like all sciences, its scientific knowledge is evolving everyday (a theory will only stand until a better one shows up, and recently there have been lots of external influences deciding what are the best ones to be released to the greater public), so ultimate knowledge is pratically unreachable using the current methods, because of the singularities of every human being.

What I'm trying to say is that you have to listen to your body more than you listen to your ideal caloric/protein/whatever daily intake; The best studies on your well being, the most reliable ones, are done by yourself using your awareness and good sense. Nowadays we're so lucky to have access to such a huge diversity of different foods, nowadays you only eat unhealthily if you want, most of our ancestors managed to live a healthy life with little abundance... there's more to nutrition than the scientific approach, I know this might sound weird but food is also medicine! And we seem to forget that the portions we eat are way higher than what we really need to survive and live a healthy life, eating has become more of a pleasure than a need. I for one declare myself guilty of eating lots of stuff only to pleasure my taste buds when I really don't need it, my diet isn't perfect in any way, but I also recognize I've made lots of progress over theyears, and awareness on these facts are key. Mankind would evolve a lot if it aimed for sustainability rather than doing stuff because we can... sorry I got carried away and off topic, it's the writter in me!
