Question regarding CRT.

Idk it seems like there’s a pretty big difference between someone being poor because of actions taken by their ancestors and people being poor because of actions taken by the state.

Practically speaking, what is the difference?

The US has already paid reparations to victims of Japanese internment and Germany has paid reparations to Jews after the Holocaust. Are you against that?

We paid reparations to the people who were actually in the internment camps. And what did Germany do? They gave some money to Israel that covered the expenses of absorbing refugees from Europe that Germany displaced, and they are paying pensions to people who are actual Holocaust survivors.

The difference is that these reparations were for things in living memory to the people who actually suffered. The people who were enslaved are dead, and so are the people who enslaved them. And so are their children. And their children's children. If a person born in 1865 - the year when slavery was ended - had a child at 12, and then that child had their own child at 12 years old, and then that grandchild had a child when s/he was 12, that great grandchild would be more than 120 years old.
