Race war = ratings. Clickbait: How some media outlets fuel hatred of police through biased coverage

Well first off, that's clearly just not true regarding the worst comment in the sub. You're exaggerating for the sake of appealing to peoples' emotions. Unless you want to pretend (or god forbid, you honestly believe), that a discussion on the state of the media is worse than advocating for the wanton murder of police, lawyers, judges, and anyone else who represents authority/the justice system in some way?

Libel is already a thing.

I never said it wasn't. But clearly defamation/libel laws aren't strong enough when you can head-line an article with "Teenager pulled over for flashing headlights; shot by police."

Or "Police Officer commits suicide after name among list of people on cheating website" and then it later turns out, no, his name wasn't on the list, and his suicide had nothing to do with the cheating website.

Or worst I can think of off the top of my head, when the Zimmerman 911 calls were deliberately edited to make him sound racist as fuck by a major news corporation. And all that happened was a couple people got fired, and the ensuing lawsuit was tossed out of court.

What happens when your truth isn't the popular one?

Maybe you could put forth the effort required to read the other eight comments before you decide your unoriginal and unuseful comment needs to be posted? Because this doesn't go against anything I've said, and in fact I specifically state that both "truth" and "opinions" have to be protected, specifically because the "truth" is subjective. But while the truth is subjective, deliberate lies or bullshit is usually pretty obvious to anyone willing to take a closer look.

But protecting your right to say things that go against the majority isn't necessarily excluded from also requiring people not to deliberately shit-post in major news publications.

Almost rules and laws are potentially open to abuse in the future. The question is how much good you're gaining in exchange for that potential abuse. In my eyes, carefully crafting rules that limit the amount of damage that can be caused by profit-driven douche-bags, if done correctly, outweighs the potential abuses by the government tomorrow.

But you are correct, it was one of the worse comments I've made on Reddit.
