As an example, we came in yesterday to 4 pallets and 1 L-cart of freight from the day before. Our associates came in at 10 and 12, so all four in the department were present. When I left at 4:00 we were still working the last pallet and CAP2 was bringing out new freight. The other DM had just finished the section work. ALL of us were doing our best to get it done and we still had to have another DM come to help.

I want to make it clear that these problems are new since the store hours have changed. Before the new hours there was coverage from 7am to 1am, but now it’s 7am to 10pm. Plus, we consistently have associates being pulled away to work the door for 1 to 2 hours, work freight in grocery, zone in other departments, or work carts in the parking lot. Of course, we also have to mix paint, facilitate gun sales, and sell fishing licenses. There just aren’t enough hours to compete the work.

The DMs that help have the time because they are in a consumable area that has help with freight, or their area has a very manageable amount of freight.
