This. I find it strange how so many Hongkongers will automatically put hapas on a pedestal and treat them like supermodels when they are just children who should be treated a such. I think putting them on a pedestal is a great way to create distance between them: how many Asians in Asia realize that hapas are fundamentally human beings with strengths, weaknesses, interests, hobbies and pet peeves just like them?

My mom wants me to have hapa kids because they are cute like dolls (notice how dolls refer to girls when technically half of the hapas are male). I have met other Chinese people (mostly women) who have said the same thing about hapas. It is dehumanizing. They are just as awful as people who get a certain breed of puppy because of some crazy trend of them being cute and popular and then throwing them out when the craze ends and they realize that having a dog is a huge commitment. Hapas babies and kids are human beings who need tender loving care yet too many Asian grandparents and parents think of them as some trendy Chanel hangbag which they can bring around to brag about because of how fashionable it is and the status associated with it.

This is why I think it is better for hapas to be born and raised in the west despite the fact that they get to enjoy hapa "privilege" in Asia and there is racism against non-whites in the west. At least in the west, most people see hapas as human beings instead of some potential Victoria's Secret model when they are just toddlers.

Tbh I think celebrities do have an effect on people. Most hapa celebrities in Asia try to act smart whereas a lot of white celebrities in the west act like degenerates. Perhaps exposure to western media does help, you do realize that many westeners value things like that and it is not as classy as some people with a colonial mindset think.

Asian men who date Asian girls because they think that white girls are hotter but feel like 99% will reject them because of their race are just as bad as white men who date Asian girls because they can't get a white girl and think that they will have it easy with Asians. I don't want to date a guy who thinks he is "settling" for my race.
