I usually understand the right wing spin on an incident, but I don't quite understand what you are suggesting here.

So you're saying that the right wing narrative is that left wing operatives placed inert devices in places that could have harmed their own, in an effort to make it seem like the right wing was out to get their top people?

At this point nothing can be ruled out, but what is the most realistic and reasonable answer?

Let's think this through. To me, this does appear to be a plot perpetrated by entities within the government, or maybe some type of consultants or contractors. It's unlikely that it was a lone actor like those maniacs who bomb abortion clinics because of their views. Alone actor is unlikely because there were so many targets within a short timeframe. So if we were to accept that logic, then there had to be funding for the operation, as this wouldn't be an emotionally driven act that some lone, lunatic, terrorist conducted who is motivated by money and not ideology. If we accept that condition, it means people were coordinating, and being paid for their time. If both of those conditions are met, then the real question is who has the expertise, willingness, and resources, to carry out the attack? To me, this implies possible foreign actors hiring contractors that aren't politically motivated, but are just trying to disrupt U.S. politics. Domestic operators carrying out the attack on either side of the political spectrum doesn't really make sense. Mainly because the highest profile bullshit artists here in the states, like James O'Keefe, who have achieved partisan outcomes like the ACORN shutdown, were exposed almost immediately because of their sloppy methods. This is literal terrorism, and whoever did it would not want to be caught because that would diminish the message they are trying to send by exposing their motivations.

It could be a lone actor motivated by rage politics, but if it isn't, then where should we turn our attention? My own opinion is that it was a plot set up from the beginning to fail since nothing was detonated, but attribution is tricky and might extend beyond the left/right paradigm.
