As a woman I would feel a little weird getting a random complement from a dude. Like it would make me think is he trying to hit on me, is he being weird, what was that for? Maybe aim for small talk like saying something about the weather, finding a hobby and talking about the hobby. That comes across as a lot less weird than a random complement that is just thrown out into the world.

I guess guys don’t get random complements but women do and it can come in the form of a cat call with harassment after if we don’t smile or say thanks. To someone trying to flirt to just a random complement with no further intention. But as women we don’t know which one it’s going to be so we are always kind of on guard.

Also I like being able to walk down the street and just be a normal person. I don’t want to be called out for anything if I’m not doing anything extraordinary. Like I didn’t just save a baby from a burning building so I don’t need random people giving me complements for nothing.
