It's not about the exclusivity of the picture itself. This is what people don't understand about nfts. An nft is just a unique bit of cryptocurrency with a picture attached. It's not about exclusive rights to an image or any of the bullshit that's being peddled. It is literally just a different form of cryptocurrency. So yes you can totally set the picture as your avatar, but you can't steal the image as your own and mint your own nfts with it. Personally, I bought the one that I have because I like the artist and their commissions are well outside of my budget. Others buy them as an investment, and the ones that Reddit is putting out can be used as an investment as well. They are attached to a blockchain like any other cryptocurrency, and can be traded or sold, but there is no way for you to pirate or duplicate a specific instance of that nft.
