Redditors who have a job where they go into other people’s homes (plumbers, electricians, etc) what’s the weirdest most disturbing thing you’ve seen while working in a customer’s house?

I use to supervise felons on post release supervision (something like parole). Did a home visit to a home that had been submitted as a release plan for a prisoner coming out and I was assigned the investigation.

I get to the house and from the outside it looked like just your average middle class home, and the sponsor seemed nice enough and invited my partner and I in. That’s when the nightmare began. As soon as you walked in all you could smell and see was shit. Dog shit from her 3 dogs every where, floors, couch, bed, every where. All the lady could say was, “oh don’t mind the mess. I’m just doing laundry.” She was concerned about the laundry.... the LAUNDRY! Not the countless turds all over the home and sitting no more than 6 inches from the pile of laundry she had been folding.

In the end, I approved the home as even though it was disgusting, there was nothing there that would’ve placed the releasee in violation. I visited that home twice a month for a year after that. Same shit, different day indeed.
