Redditors with emotionally mature parents who supported you and taught you what you needed to know (real life skills)-Do you exist, and if so, how's life?

Life isn’t perfect but it often feels perfect because my mom taught me about gratitude and to always look on the bright side of things. We were homeless for a spell when I was younger but far from it now. Family stuck together while friendships and even husbands come and go. Moms been divorced a couple times and it’s shown me not to jump into anything or rush to settle down. Once I find the one I want to last, I’m going to work my ass off to make it last. My mom taught me about finances, investment, taxes, car maintenance, and lots of survival skills I never use (she was my Girl Scout troop leader). She taught me that forgiveness is a gift you give yourself, and to never let anxiety paralyze me. She taught me to eat well and the importance of staying active and loving myself. Life’s not perfect, but it’s close enough.

And my dad taught me that men really are trash :)
