Relatives of murderers, what memories stood out as red flags?

Can attempted murderers count? My uncle once took a hatchet to a guy's head over a small amount of drugs, and the guy miraculously survived.

But I have this one memory of him from when I was a kid. My grandma (his mom) was in the hospital on her deathbed. He told my mom to pull the plug on her because he wanted to go around to grandma's favorite bars (she was a pretty bad alcoholic, so people knew her well around the city's lil' dive bars) and basically collect money from people for her funeral (or so he said).

Obviously my mom wasn't gonna do that. He went ahead and told everyone she'd died anyway and got a bunch of donations from people, then went and bought a ton of meth and disappeared for a couple weeks. She actually died not long after and he never showed up to the funeral. He was a complete psychopath.
