Republicans’ New Stance on COVID Contradicts Everything They’ve Said About Abortion

but it's mainly about punishing women for having sex and "facing the consequences

This is exactly it. I heard a dude admit this flat out when cornered in a debate on Twitch. The conservative slipped up and blurted out; "They need to face the consequences for their actions, they need to be punished! Why make it easy for them??!!" His opponent, caught this and pushed "Well I don't want to pay for someone else's kid for 18 years, why not just pay for birth control via taxes. It's cheaper and supports your anti abortion stance." Dude, unraveled quickly and responded, "It's about personal responsibility and consequences. They NEED to suffer!" I was floored.

Conservatives don't care about the unborn, that debate made this painfully obvious. This isn't about "controlling women," no, it's about punishing people they view as less then human.
