Revealed: What's beneath rising NCEA pass rates

NCEA is fucked up. I am a Pakeha who went to a low decile high school a few years ago. In year 11 and 12 I never did badly in exams or NCEA based assignments, sure I wasn't getting a lot of Excellence's like the smart kids but I wasn't failing anything. Come year 13, NCEA failed ALL except one of my exams for no reason other than they needed to fail so many people each year. I was furious, that was my UE. So, I contacted everyone that I could, asking if I could get anything re-considered but NOPE I just got told that even if I paid all the money then it would just be a waste of time. Nothing would get re-graded and I told they didn't give a shit about me not getting my UE. Fortunately, the university sent me a quick 12 week course to do and I got my UE that way and breezed through with A grades in that. My degree was set back a year and it's really embarrassing telling people about this because they look at me like I am a failure but I am currently still at university, getting good grades and looking at my postgraduate options.

So NCEA doesn't just hate on other races, it hates on anyone it can fail just because. The system is not fair and I thought I would share my story.
