Yeah you got it on the dot with the history of racism, I was going to mention this in my second paragraph but chose to just write the "try to understand why they my be more likely to commit crimes" part you quoted.

That argument I have no problem with and I even agree with. But I got into some other discussions with left winged individuals regarding others similar population oriented issues and 90% of them always just point to the numbers while completely dismissing why they might be the way they are.

This is probably the case with both sides of people on the political spectrum though and more just to do with people not being the brightest.
