[RUMOUR] Pato's agent(?) confirms we've signed him for €15m

Wasn't hard, was it? It's ridiculous that you had to be so defensive rather than actually carrying on the debate.

  • Bellerabi - worse record than Pato and is more of a winger.
  • Sane - I would also prefer him to Pato but can we get him?
  • Volland - After Firmino, I doubt the club want to dip back into the Hoffenheim pot just yet.
  • Kostic - again, more of a winger than a striker.
  • Feghouli - an exciting player but hardly a goalscorer.
  • Insigne - not an impressive goalscoring record and also loaned out, something that Pato has been criticised for.

Not to mention, all of these players would be a massive risk, just as much risk as Pato, but more costly. The majority, as you stated, play in the Bundesliga, for none of the top clubs. Literally, the only one of those you've mentioned I'd be happy to take the extra risk on is Leroy Sane, but given the indication in the media, I highly doubt we can sign him, and there will be other clubs with European football on offer who'll also be watching him with a careful eye.

So what you're essentially saying is, lets go and sign Bundesliga second players from secondary level teams (no offence) as opposed to raiding Premier League secondary level teams like Southampton. When will our fan base learn? We must sign cheap talent and only spend big when we have the opportunity to bag a player from a big calibre club.

Oh, and before someone mentions Torres and Suarez, Torres come from a top club in La Liga in Atletico and Suarez from the best team in the Netherlands, Ajax. When you sign from the top clubs, you get top players. I would rather us sign Pato for £11m and wait and spend big money more wisely than just throwing money at the problem every window just for the heck of it.

After all your cheap shots of 'I cant believe I have to explain this' and so forth, I expected a better list or at least a better argument, but there you go, its hardly surprising our fan base has come to accept such mediocrity when they want to splash £20m plus on B grade European fodder out of sheer desperation, rather than modest sums on players who are just as much risk and then spending wisely on true talent when the opportunity presents itself.

Are you Ian Ayre by any chance? The lack of business acumen is so transparent it's ridiculous.
