Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
If Putin or Netanyahu had a wish list, it would be something like this:
Legacy/status/wealth as a person and as a statesman.
Russia/Israel first.
An expanded sphere of influence and freedom of action.
American cooperation or non-interference.
If the regressive left had a wish list, it would be marxism, the elimination of white people, destruction of western society/culture/values, institutionalized misandry, and Stalin-esque totalitarian political correctness/censorship/social control.
So yeah, Republicans trust Putin and Netanyahu more than they trust the left.
