You and those of your ilk (short term thinkers) are why the personal savings rate in the country is ~5% and why most folks have to continue to work into their late 60s.

I am into leanfire and my life is far from miserable. Spending all of your hard earned money for trinkets is not the secret to happiness - the secret to happiness is as a result of the people and relationships that you have in your life - all of which are free or near free.

I will probably retire at the age of 42-45 and will get to enjoy the rest of my life spending time with my family and friends, travelling, working for fun, volunteering, and doing anything I damn well please. And all I had to give up to earn my freedom is to spend less on trinkets.
