San Francisco police officers handcuffed a car-theft victim, ran his name for warrants and then released him into the waiting arms of federal immigration agents, records show, in what is being investigated as a possible breach of local sanctuary-city laws.

A little late to the party but after reading some of the comments, as an illegal immigrant until the age of 18y.o. and currently "dreamer" nursing student, I would like to give my view. The problem lies when people mix all illegals together, to simplify I want to put them in 4 categories. 1st first generation illegals, crossed the boarder after living a significant part of their lives in Mex, or other countries. 2nd gen. The kids of those who crossed illegally and are currently illegal after living their whole lives in Mex, other countries 3rd Wives that came to support their husband "housewife" very common in Mexico, I'm from Mexico so my point of view is specific, they do not have much rights and have a hard time leaving the house on their own. 4th and the worst, the scum of Mexico that came to the U.S. managed to find trouble and gives everyone a bad name, end up having deportation orders. Ok, here it goes. First gen. can get deported as many times as possible with very little issues, they can find work have family connections that they probably have been sending money too and will give them a home and basic essentials to get on their feet, usually have no problem coming back to the U.S. My dad is a first gen. and he only left Mex. after 2/3 of the family stores went bankrupt thanks to Walmart and other superstores popping up in his town. 2nd gen. like me have no connections/experience in Mex. I haven't talked to any of my close family from my country in years probably 14th birthday. I speak Spanish well but local lingo and slang I don't know well and will stick out like a sore thumb. Never sent any one money and most people that see me go to Mex expect me to be rich/wealthy and will not have any pity towards my situation. 2nd gen. will probably never get back to the U.S. and if they try there is a high chance that during the crossing 2nd gen. can get sent to the cartels as a recruitments. 3rd gen. May or may not have U.S. born children stuck in the U.S. have never worked, and will be viewed as a burden to the relatives unless her siblings/parents will take her in. 4th gen. they should be sent back to do jail time in their home country or in the U.S. since if they are just deported and release they will corrupt the youth. The young look up to people that are from the U.S. and these are the ones that start gangs and drug rings back in their home country with no care in life as to how many people they harm or kill. should do their time for the reason they are being deported and cannot be given a free break from jail if they broke laws in the U.S.
