Sanders: Think hard about a protest vote this year

i dont really think that many gay ppl care about gay rights tho. like the internet and even more specifically apps like grindr have done way more for gays than anything any laws could ever do. like i think gay ppl would rather have the internet and grindr to exist for them, than have any equality under the law. the only reason why there is more equality now is because of the shifts in general attitudes in many areas that allowed it. it's almost beside the point to correct equality in the law when ppl aren't bent on discriminating against gays anymore. since the problem for gays was never not having equality as much as the widespread prejudice against them that manifested itself in the lowest everyday levels to the highest legal levels.

but change has really come from below, to the point where discrimination at the top in laws is largely irrelevant. stuff like gay conversion camps are on their way out not due to any laws being passed against them, but the changes to society in the last couple decades that made them unfeasible. whether you legalize it or not, its on its way out.

you never need to guarantee all this stuff like housing and employment protection, when there is very little threatening it anymore. or marriage for that matter. gay people never cared to get married, but just to be able to live their life with their significant other without any extra hassle.

and they can more and more now, not due to gay marriage being legal, but due to the cultural shifts that have allowed those laws to be passed. the change in attitude and feelings by the public is not something politicians can have any effect on. go against it or go with it, its not going to make a big difference.

i know there is still going to be 10% of gays and 10% of liberals that are passionate for gay rights and stuff, and thats great, i bet their nice passionate ppl and stuff, and a love of justice is a great virtue, but im just saying its not actually going to do anything.

women would have been forced into the workplace without feminists, and slaves would have been freed without abolitionists. really there is much bigger factors behind societal changes for the good or bad than anything politics can accomplish.

for gays its got better in the last couple decades for sure. but this is 90% due to stuff llike the internet and 5% due to activism. im a gay trump supporter cuz trump is awesome.

. but i get it, evroyne has to have their thing they care about. just dont be under any delusions that it does much to
