Don't forget Libya, Egypt. The Arab Spring(although I'm sure people will disagree here), was a US operation. They fomented dissent in about a half a dozen countries, with the "Snowden" leaks.
People don't realize the USA/CIA released the Snowden leaks, to cause all of these nations to fall, and to SLOWLY educate US citizens(and Global Citizens) that they are being spied on.
The goal was never to keep the spying a secret. The Goal was to get everybody to accept it, by teaching them in a slow, drawn out matter, so that no dissent occurred. It was a great success.
Not only did countries that were not willing to submit to Saudi/US/Israeli authority get toppled left and right. The US, and the World populaces came to accept being spied on, without ever rebelling in any serious way.
Remember, Snowden was a CIA agent(self admitted).

Doesn't exactly sound like a whistle-blower, does it? Sounds like the exact opposite. A guy who's MAD at whistle-blowers so much, that he talks about shooting them in the balls(specifically one at the NYT, in this conversation).
