SCOTUS Hears Case That Could Kill College Affirmative Action

I don't care about her crying about her situation. If affirmative action ends, it benefits society as a whole. I want my doctors smarter/better, I don't give a damn if they are blacker. I only want my doctors blacker, if they are also smarter/better.

Have you ever looked at how med school admissions work?

Here is the AAMC website with the tables

Lets pick 27-29 MCAT with a 3.60-3.79 GPA as these are scores and GPA's that are attainable by most people applying for medical school. Here are the acceptance rates:

  • Black: 87.6%
  • Hispanic: 73.8%
  • White: 45%
  • Asian: 35.8%

Just to contrast this, lets pick subpar scores such as 21-23(24 is the score that statistically >determined an individual had the capability to pass the rigors of medical school and the >required board exams, scores are higher now due to competition), and lets again pick the >3.60-3.79 GPA to keep some simplicity.

  • Black: 37.9%
  • Hispanic: 43.1%
  • White: 7.9%
  • Asian: 6.4%

While it effects Asians more than whites, this is still some pretty ridiculous discrimination against white people. Not to mention a massive disservice to everyone. We want the best and the brightest to be the people the hold our lives in their hands. Why they hell does being hispanic or having the blackest skin tone matter here? Does it help them hold a scalpel or something?

And even if the numbers were different and white weren't being discriminated against based on the color of their skin(which they are), why the hell wouldn't people want more Asian doctors, if those Asians are better than the white/black/hispanic ones???
