Second Germanwings black box confirms co-pilot deliberately crashed the plane

Who says we shouldn't be poking around in these people's personal lives if they are going to be flying 150 or 300 people? We do it with politicians, movie stars and many other types of inconsequential people all the time.

Would you want someone poking and prodding at you because they felt you were sad or anxious?

I am not paid to be the sole caretaker of 300 lives in a given instant.

That said I doubt anyone could have detected it. It's easy to FAKE being okay in front of others.

By the sounds of it, if my recommended system was applied, there would be no way in hell that he would have been allowed to fly again in his life. It's completely hindsight bias and completely obvious, that is why some aspects of it should be implemented.

I have had depression in the past. You either get out of it through your own efforts or you wallow in it for the rest of your life. There is a point or vector in time where depression becomes your fault. It sounds cruel or ignorant but the fact of the matter is that if someone is feeling depressed, there are some damn good reasons for it. Perhaps they like smoking weed or drinking or feeling sorry for themselves, at the end of the day it's a selfish behavior when it drags on for an extended period of time. Weakness should not be rewarded. If they don't want to get better, then their life should suffer. I know you will give the song and dance about how I am so ignorant and know nothing about depression, but the fact is that any depressed person never makes superhuman efforts to pick up a book, or go for a job, or quit the dope or anything like that. And even if they are capable people, like this maniac, then they have the opposite problem. Then they don't know how to give up their career and settle into a life they can handle. It is zero self control, depression is just a consequence of not being in control of their own lives.
