Why edit and not just respond?

I live in Maine, don't need to check a population map, thanks. I was talking about lumberjacks and lobstermen as examples of the types of blue collar people who may have voted for Collins and support the Republicans. I was responding to someone who said they didn't understand why anyone would support her. Obviously it's oversimplified. I wasn't trying to describe the entire state comprehensively.

It wasn't my intention to paint them as people who are too stupid to care about politics. I was trying to point out that they don't tend to care about "wonkish economic theories", to use your words. I've lived through political discussion with fishermen and lumberjacks, I know exactly how heated it can get. It just tends to be more focused on the practical daily reality and less about "wonky economic theory".
