[Serious] Why is Israel building new settlements?

Random Israelis setting up tent towns are not Israel

That's even a more blatant lie. If Mubarak sent a group "of Egyptians" to disperse a protest then this doesn't mean the gov't wasn't involved. Israel was set to evacuate few illegal outposts built since 2000 but it evacuated few empty ones and it even legalized some. Too much for "no new settlements are being built".

The moratorium was far wider. Settlement construction was halted.

The reason it didn't get anywhere was because the PLO wanted it to extend to East Jerusalem, wanted it to include stopping all construction, even things like schools or houses already started and within the existing borders/settlements, and wanted it to include the removal of outposts. Even so, East Jerusalem did have a partial freeze too.

Israel said "We're doing the best we can, come sit at the table". The Palestinians threw a fit, and said no.

Only 9 months later did the Palestinians suddenly change their mind, saying suddenly that the deal was good enough for them to come to the table. But before negotiating, what did they say? Let me show you: after indirect talks that went nowhere, direct talks started with a month to go on the moratorium. Then the Palestinians said "Extend the moratorium or we won't talk". Israel refused, and not surprisingly: the idiotic slights of people like Salam Fayyad, and their choice to be intransigent, make moratoriums worthless. Especially if it takes 9 months to get any direct talks started.

Seriously, now we're peddling Likud propaganda? And you're supposed to be the best over here?

Source"We do not put any restrictions on building in our sovereign capital," the premier said.

"We will not halt existing construction and we will continue to build synagogues, schools, kindergartens and public buildings essential for normal life in the settlements," he said

So if you want to negate what your own leader says, go ahead, but you're embarrassing yourself here.

Besides, let's not peddle some bullshit propaganda. The reason why the PA didn't want to negotiate despite the partial freeze is that the PA saw a new Israeli gov't that wanted 1) not to recognize the framework for the resumption of negotiations i.e. 1967 UN resolutions and wanting to restart again from scratch 2) A megalomaniac US-educated ~moron~ sorry leader who wants to absolve Israel from commitments under approved agreements especially the Roadmap (which was approved by Sharon's government).

It's such a sad historical period we live in that we had to waste few years of potential fruitful negotiations because of "chicken shit" aka Netanyahu. A person who's so infantile doesn't act like a real leader held from his balls by his own wife and unable to mature and grow over the loss of his elder brother in Entebbe.
