[Serious] Men, what's something that would surprise women about life as a man?

Horse shit.

I'm probably going to tweak out a little bit here because I (anecdotal evidence warning) know several women in the military who have been raped and feel very strongly against this kind of offhanded dismissal.

These weren't "oh tee-hee I had too much to drink and now I regret my decision" but, held down against their will or outright drugged, wake up the next morning naked and sore, crying because they were still alive.

None of their rapists were punished even with sufficient evidence to go to trial.

And yes. My response uses only one article about the military and my experiences there and not the population at large. It's what's within my experience so I'll work with what I know.

And yes, you can go ahead and poke holes in the fact that there is no way to 100% sure way to guarantee that someone is telling the truth but, with as drawn out and awful as the process is to actually make the claim and go forward to trial, if your CO even decides in his opinion that it's worth going to trial over, as mentioned in the article, it's just not worth the effort to falsely accuse someone.

Drop the myth of false accusations to get ahead or its pervasiveness. It's on the level of believing everyone on welfare does drugs. Look how well the investigations into that "problem" have worked out.
