One night in my early 20's I was out at one of the bar districts in my town with some friends. My friends and I frequented this area and all lived relatively close by. My girlfriend at the time lived about 1.5 miles away, but we avoided walking because it went through a bad area of town and went up a rather steep hill. For whatever reason we decided to walk home this particular night.

We leave around 2 AM and begrudgingly commit to the walk. We get a few blocks away from the bar and have to make a left onto a long straightaway of road. As we're walking down this stretch there are elevated train tracks to our left and some commercial places to our right. There is no one around or really no place for us to go rather than forward, or back to where we came. We're walking along and see a car coming towards us. It looks like it's moving rather slow then it just stops when it's about 100 ft from us.

At this point, my girlfriend (who had watched too many scary movies as a kid) immediately starts to freak out and think we are about to get murdered. Somehow in my half-drunken state I keep calm, even though I was scared shitless myself, and tell her to keep walking and keep our heads down. We slowly approach the car and he doesn't move an inch, just sitting there sizing us up. We speedwalk past on the left while I nervously glance at the passengers, not wanting to make eye contact. As we pass the car is no more than 15 ft to our right, and I'm able to make out the silhouettes of two large men sitting in the front.

We keep walking as we glance over our shoulders and see them finally drive away. It was just so creepy that they were sitting there sizing us up right in plain view. Who knows what they were thinking of doing, I'm getting goosebumps typing this out. Rest assured, we did not walk that route after this experience.
