[Serious] What made you realize that maybe your family wasn't as normal as it seemed?

It's weird in my family. Like some here we grew up in a family where hugs and kisses were far and few in between and forget about being told you were loved. 5 kids and that's how we grew up.

We are all in our mid to late fifties now and our parents are still alive. We kids all had an impromptu talk one night and we discussed this very subject. We made the decision that just because our parents never said it to us doesn't mean we shouldn't say it to each other. Every time we end a phone conversation or greet or leave we tell each other that we love them. Even though we still don't say it to our parents it feels so nice to hear and say it to each other. Yes it was awkward at first but now it just feels natural.
