[Serious] What made you respect your parents a little bit less?

Hey, I feel for you, the same thing happened to me too. I'd say I'm still pretty fucked up.

I used to resent my mom for doing those things to me, but then I realized that she had a rough childhood too. She was raised in 1980s Korea, which was very poor and probably more stressful for her since it emphasized education so much. It also doesn't help that she had two jobs and worked the night shift to support my family while raising me. I'd say she was barely holding it together most of the time.

I just wish my dad had more backbone to stand up for me and a job. I guess not being the man of the house fucks you up somehow when most men are.

My brother is going through the same thing right now. I don't really know what to do, since I don't have the time or resources to raise him in place of my mom. (I'm in uni, but still live with them) I just hope my brother doesn't see me as the bad guy when he's older.
