[Serious] What do you think would be different, good or bad in society if religion never existed?

Incredible things have been done in the name of religion, many people coming together under that banner to create the seemingly impossible. Many horrors though, too.

I agree that it's an inevitability. If you could wipe the mind of every person alive to have never known anything about religion (I know that's problematic for a million reasons, but just go with that idea), I expect it would spring up again organically. I think we're wired for that, we're self-aware but also know we're very small and vulnerable beings deep down. Some embrace that, some seek comfort from that awareness because it is scary when you stare it in the face, or when forces beyond your control impact you irrevocably.
