Sexual assualt victims need to stop letting their assaulters get away with it

While nothing you said is "wrong," exactly, there are many reasons why the abused often don't come forward right away. They blame themselves, perhaps. They believe they were stupid or weak for "allowing" it to happen, so they then feel ashamed and responsible for what someone else did to them. There's also embarrassment of having to talk about yourself in a sexual manner. Reporting the assault would be talking about it openly, pretty much reliving it all over again. And in the cases of males assaulted by women, such as in my own oersonal experience, there's the fear that no one is going to take it seriously and it's gonna be laughed off like it does in TV or movies when it's female on male violence. Being abused fucks with your head in such bizarre ways that even if you've studied the effects in advance, you're never prepared to process it yourself.
