Sikh Golden Temple (in India) feeds 50k-100k people DAILY for FREE regardless of religion/caste/social status.

I’m an atheist who grew up in a Sikh household. I love the values Sikhi taught me and carry them with me everyday. The religion is based on “sarbhat da bhala”, aka the good of the people/community, so “seva” (service without expectation or hope of reward) is instilled as a core principle early on in life. I remember as a child when I would go to the gurudwara, my dad would help serve langar (the meals) to visitors while my mom usually helped prepare food. I would stand next to her on a stool and butter the rotis/chapatis as they were cooked. Or I would go around giving people glasses of water/napkins. It was the small way I could do something even as a child.
