The PSP was made to combat the Nintendo handhelds so it makes sense that it would be derived from the reason it was created.

The timeline branches off so that it isn't an extended line of clutter. I don't understand your idea of "striping." Maybe make a small example?

Again the beginning of the timeline is meant to demonstrate where it all started with the big players and then the end is supposed to show you everything in recent memory until present day. If I included every single game console I would not have been able to complete this for my deadline. It was an assignment for school I never claimed to be the encyclopedia of games history, it was just a fun thing I did and I decided to upload it for people to get a small bit of enjoyment out of, not overanalyse the shit out of it.

Again, the first portion of the timeline had notes because those were major breakthroughs and 'firsts.' Everything after that was less insignificant besides graphical changes.

The PlayStation is called the PlayStation because no one called it the PS1 back then. With NES, it is unclear whether Nintendo put their name in as part of the name or as a title. Just like the Nintendo Gamecube, or Microsoft Windows, we call both these things Windows and Gamecube. The SNES, however, contains Nintendo within the title and is therefore actually part of it.

I can put whatever I want in the title, it didn't detract from the overall piece at all. Why would I include 'of' in the y-axis title? It fits nowhere.
