Well that's funny, 'cause I work in athletic eligibility compliance at a 4-year institution, and between our male athletes and our female athletes, the males are the ones who can't get their goddamned shit together half the time.

Most of the female athlete don't seem to have any trouble enrolling in 16-18 units every quarter, passing classes, and taking care of their shit.

The men typically do the bare minimum, and about half the time can't even pass classes then. You tell them what they need to do to retain eligibility and they still don't do that. They half-ass everything, and since they are male athletes, they expect to be walked through every single step of fixing whatever problems they've created through negligence and laziness.

Do we get academically strong male athletes? Fuck yeah, the kid I helped today finished his BA in 3 years and is working on a grad degree now. And we get academically weak females too, I've had to meet with several recently to help them fix issues.

But by and large the women do what they are supposed to do and the men think someone will cover their asses and do everything for them.

And by and large, unfortunately, they are right. The women do what they are expected to do because nobody covers their ass when they don't. The men fuck around and act irresponsibly and the coaches and other administrators jump in and try to fix the problems for them without any effort on their part, because God forbid they lose another pitcher.

This athletic director isn't just a fucking idiot, he's a perfect example of why he's not just wrong, but actually creating the fucking problem in this industry.
