I think the thing that is most astonishing about all of this is that this group of people believed that they could force their way through a police line, smash windows, enter a restricted area, kick down doors and break windows, steal fixtures and mail, and suffer absolutely no consequences. The woman who shouted, "NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP US" while ignoring repeated warnings from police officers barricaded inside the house with lawmakers that they would shoot anyone entering the chamber is a perfect example. The guy standing near her who said, "You didn't have to shoot her!" What did you think was going to happen?

The mistake that they made is believing that because they are white and Trump supporters that nothing would happen. They believed that the police and military would fall in with them and help to overthrow the government.

The insurrection was stopped with a single bullet.
