This is a weird story, but I met my then girlfriend's ex-boyfriend. She introduced us because we were going to be in the same college program, which was rather small. All we know about each other is that I played football and hockey back in high school, while he was more bookish.

In a group of friends, we end up coming across a life size chess board - so he challenges me to a game and starts talking trash. I obliterated him and told him after that I was on the chess team in high school, won 4 straight state championships, and placed 25th in nationals. I guess, considering how bro-y I acted, he didn't expect it.

Fast forward: my girlfriend's ex became my best friend, we end up backpacking in Europe together. My gf throws me out of a moving car bc she thought I was flirting with her friend at a bar, I break up with her. But my bro is still my bro.
