! I understand some people’s perception to this image is embarrassing and humiliating. I was OR scrub tech and heres the details. The operating area are considered highly sterile. You have to follow list of steps to gown and gloves just to be in that area. As a training scrub tech, we did this mistakes multiple times. Guess what? You have to go outside wash your hands, scrub between your fingers 10 times, wash all the way from elbow to tip of your finger. There is a special way to do this. Then you enter the OR the room and gown and gloves in a sterile manner. There is also a process for this. It is like a second habit you need to develop. The worst thing you can do is desterilize the operating area or surgeon. yes you study your ass off to be in that room, now if you want to be surgeon you have to develop a second habit ie all your maneuvers in that room should be sterile. yes I know, you have watched several videos of operating procedures but trust surgeons are so used to doing this you won’t even notice how they are managing to stay sterile. For example, you cannot drop your hands below patient operating level. Imagine standing there for hours, you are bound to drop your hand below patient level. Like I said it a second habit that needs to be developed, therefore there is nothing wrong that picture. Its not like he is tied upto the wall in chains. But anyways you get the idea.
