Something about my room bugs me, need opinions.

The floor is parquet. While I don't personally like the black painted lines, I can appreciate that element. Parquet floors are very hot right now and trendy.

The severe black and white color scheme is a little harsh, and I would tend to agree that the bedding is a bit much, in regards to how it matches the floor, Especially the central white area, I think if the whole coverlet was the darker Argyle pattern. The problem here is not mixed patterns (floor and coverlet) but that the patterns are too close in scale and value. The If the pattern on the coverlet was much smaller or much larger than the floor pattern, it might work. As it is, the darker pattern is a better contrast to the floor, value-wise, at least.

You could try adding black sheets for the pillows, or dark shams with a small argyle pattern in dark greys, and maybe that have a little different color.

A black and white scheme like this can look sterile very fast. In this case, the book cases are not fully utilized, and that has an abandoned look. As someone who likes to fuss over things (mild ocd) you may want to search for Tutorial on how to style a bookase. Beige or textured neutrals would go far in this room. Like natural baskets that fit into the shelves to store stuff, or even any kind of box that fits and covered with brown paper from grocery bags. paper mache boxs would also warm the place up, and you don't have to do anything to them, just leave them blank.

Other textures, like thick Knits for pillows or throws or even place mats in speckely neutrals or tans will bring texture in as would barn wood or wool.

I agree that art work would add a lot to the room. A collection of river rocks lined up on the shelves, pine cones, cool twigs, could make parts of the shelves like a science museum display, therefore art, rather than a gaping hole.
