Starting to play again?

[PERSONAL BIAS/OPINION] Not a fan of the garrisons. Didn't live up to the full expectations and is essentially a daily chore at this point in the expansion. Was also not a fan of the legendary quest line, preferred the legendary cloak Wrathion had us work for. Liked the music, liked the zones and the fact you actually have to work for Draenor flying instead of just dropping 4k gold that you just earned from doing a couple Cataclysm raids solo. As for raids, the first half of Highmaul was pretty enjoyable (and stress-free for my guild :-p), Blackrock Foundry was nice as a whole, some fights seemed a little boring (for example, The Blast Furnace), and lastly Hellfire Citadel seemed very repetitive after a couple of runs. Comparitively in Mists, I could run SoO plenty of times and not get bored of it.

  • Addition of subscription tokens that can be purchased with gold. I prefer to pay my way with these because with how bored I am with most of the end-game I just let my excess gold pay the way.
  • Many classes have had their specs "pruned" - for example many Crowd Control spells were either significantly changed or removed. One example being how Survival or BM hunters no longer get [Rapid Fire]. Full list of removed spells can be found on WoWhead, if needed I'll edit the link in later.

  • Garrisons (and shipyards, level 100 only) introduced to the game. If you are familiar with the Halfhill Farm from Valley of Four Winds, garrisons are (slightly) the same -- different buildings including but not limited to: bank, profession buildings, herb farm, mine, mount stables, and so on. In short, it's basically your own phased base, and the only way others can get is in is via. being in a party/raid.

  • Leveling, depending on how you do it, can be much faster -- heirlooms are now available 1-100 and with the addition of hidden treasures, most in which will grant some XP -- and if you have some spare gold you can buy a couple 300% EXP potions. (Not the case in MoP, would have to get a drop from that rare in Dread Wastes or Timeless Isle)

  • Ashran is the new "world pvp" zone players were given, it is an never-ending event and isn't phased specifically to your realm. Nothing like Wintergrasp or Tol Barad.

  • Renamed and/or new difficulties - now goes as followed:

    • Normal
    • Heroic ("Flex" in late-Mists)
    • Mythic (previously "Heroic")
    • Challenge (dungeons only, this already existed in MoP but now offers transmog weapons and not the armor like before)
  • Updated character models. Excluding any race released from Cata-Mists.

  • No new scenarios, IMHO having these in MoP was nice and an alternative to dungeons...

  • 7 dungeons, one of them being a "remastered" Upper Blackrock Spire.
