[STORY] I have a 145 IQ, and I had the chance to tell my way more successful friend why it doesn't matter at all.

IQ tests are kind of bullshit. They test how good you are at taking IQ tests, not any concrete skills.

Source: had to take multiple IQ tests as part of my IEP in school. I scored 160, 80, 115, and 130 in that order. Why? Because my first tester didn't tell me I was taking a test, my second tester pulled me out of lunch and recess to take the test, my third tester had to throw out a portion of my test because I apparently didn't follow the instructions (it was one of the matching sections and I matched all in set a then all in set b and apparently that was cheating, but the instructions didn't say not to so whatever) and the third time I knew if I scored too low then when I went to high school I would be placed in special ed for a period out of the day and I was very stressed about that happening.

Your IQ score is not supposed to change much from year to year, let alone in a difference of 80 points.

I also managed to get straight Ds through middle school, B's A's and C's in high school, and straight A's in the two years of college I attended before I started having a nervous breakdown and stopped being able to physically be on campus without having a panic attack. Fun times. Now I'm waiting to be accepted into an online college so I can finish the other two years for a bachelor's degree I already know I won't be able to use due to my apparently crippling anxiety, but my parents will disown me if I don't get it.

IQ is not a barometer for success lol.
