I don’t really understand anti-trans peoples’ worry about “children are changing their gender and they don’t even know what that means!” or “This is just a phase!” Well, according to statistics, it’s likely not a phase.

But so what if it was? Say a kid or adult makes the choice to transition, and decides to transition back to their previous gender, or to be non-binary. If they’re an adult, it’s on them to go through the process and work of legally changing their name and gender and to stop HRT (if they have done so). If they’re a kid, it’s not like they’ve had bottom surgery (although these people seem to think doctors are performing surgery on children).

Is it really such a MASSIVE inconvenience to call someone by a different name or pronoun? Your kid wants a Barbie and a skirt instead of a GI Joe and pants, so what? This isn’t really about the children, of course. This is about some inner issues and control and shame and fear adults have to work through because it’s nullifying any shred of compassion these adults might actually have for children.
