The Sun, Telegraph and Times are blaming the drones on environmental activism—with literally no evidence

Which is bollocks of course.

How so? Do you think there's just some evil faceless megacorp somewhere pumping CO2 into the atmosphere for the laughs? There isn't. We are responsible for our own environmental impact, and we should accept that responsibility and use it to try and make change happen.

I as an individual who earns fuck all and has no powers does not have the ability to change what the easiest way to get to and from a place is,

You as one person don't have that power; If everyone around you also took responsibility and you all took it upon yourself to contact your local council, and got them to build better cycle infrastructure, or public transport then collectively you would have that power.

and lying down in the road and pissing people off will not alter that.

I agree with you, on the individual level that's not the best way to make people change.

You want to make a statement, hold a no car day - get everyone who can to walk, cycle or get the bus to work - the people who absolutely have to drive are more likely to care when they see the difference that effective alternatives makes.

And this is entirely the thing people should do - why don't you?

I can take me up to 2 hours to get to somewhere half an hour away by car in my area, you can kind of understand why people drive.

I'm assuming from this you live in quite a rural area, and if so I do too and I can entirely relate - it takes about 40 minutes to drive to the major town nearest to me, or about 2 hours by bus. But in my local area there were been petitions to build better cycle infrastructure and so now we have some really nice cycling infrastructure.

Yes, it takes longer than the car to get somewhere (talking like 60 minutes) but given that it feels much safer (what would you prefer, a small windy country road or a nice path with lovely views), is much better for your health, and is much less congested there are now hundreds of people taking that route every day and I for one much prefer it to driving.

My point about taking individual responsibility and us all being guilty isn't to try to say to people "no you shouldn't go home for christmas" or anything like that; it's more to say that you should take responsibility for your own actions and their impact on the environment. Realise that by flying home you are having a negative impact on the environment, and try to improve on that instead of just blaming it on someone or something else.
