Was super hyped for WoD, played it as soon as it was playable after releasing.. and got bored before I even got to level 100... Anyone else having the same issues?

Well, here's my view:

I started at vanilla launch, got a couple characters to max level, realized there was nothing else to do, started raiding, and eventually got Nef down. TBC was a weak expansion (although Kara was great), but Wrath was amazing. I loved raiding, I loved achievements, I loved questing in Northrend, I even loved grinding Oracles and Wolvar rep. Cataclysm, however, was boring. I ran around redoing old zones for a bit, stuck my nose into a couple of raids, but it just didn't thrill me. I unsubbed, and MoP didn't change my mind in the slightest. I didn't like the Asian influenced design, I didn't like the look of pandas, and I thought pet battles seemed silly.

I resubbed for Warlords though, and I haven't regretted it in the slightest. I feel like it's the best expansion since Wrath (and I don't say that lightly), and I'm also enjoying the accumulated changes Bliz added in MoP and late Cata. Flexible raid sizes are lovely, raid finder is a godsend for gearing alts, the group finder tools are awesome, etc.

Garrisons are...okay? I mean, I still think Dalaran was the best capital city ever, but it's easy to over-romanticize it too. For those of us who were there, we well remember that it was boring, very laggy, and full of annoying people. Playing on a crowded server, I still wince thinking about the struggles to do the daily cooking quests. Logging in to turn over some missions and collect some herbs might seem boring, but logging in to run some more daily quests wasn't actually better, believe me. Besides, I like the garrisons. They feel like a missed opportunity to do player housing or a guild headquarters, but they're not bad. Optimizing followers to run missions is an okay minigame, and it's a nice source of gear to help gear up alts and such.

And while garrisons are just okay, let's not forget what Bliz did right: Probably the best leveling experience of any expansion. Each zone is dense with quests, treasures, and bonus objectives; I'm currently leveling my 4th character through Talador, and it's still interesting. TBC was painfully boring the first time, and even Wrath lost a lot of replay value on the 2nd+ alts.

(Also, I think Blackrock Foundry is up there with Ulduar and Karazhan as one of the top 3 raid instances Bliz has turned out. It's beautiful and the fights are varied and fun.)

Really, I think that this may not be the game for you, or perhaps that you're no longer looking for the same sort of game you once were. By any measure I can think of (well, except the rather bungled launch), WoD is a good expansion, and there's far more content now that there's ever been before. If it's boring to you, it's because you don't want what it has on offer. Which is fine! But if you're logging in and deciding you don't feel like leveling, questing, collecting apexis, collecting toys, achievements, pet battles, pvp, raiding, leveling alts, whatever...well, maybe you're looking for a different game?

TL;DR: Nope, I was hyped for WoD, and it's much better than I expected.
