Teen invents 'Sit With Us' app so no high schooler has to eat alone

The new way of bullying is avoidance. That is, we don't talk to people we don't like. The "weird" kids at my school sit alone because they're annoying. They're loud, never stop talking, try way to hard to be funny, and overall we just feel awkward being around them.

I was one of those kids growing up, and upon becoming an adult I realized I cannot blame you ("you" as in, normal high schoolers) for the shit I perceived myself being put through back then. My own lack of self-awareness was the reason I was ostracized, not because kids went out of their way to outcast me. That came later, and while it wasn't right, I at least now understand why that was their reaction.

So on behalf of all those "weird kids", I'm genuinely sorry that we're like this. We all are. We know we are. We're self-aware enough to realize what we're doing, but not self-aware enough to stop ourselves. We're so unfathomably desperate and we don't know how to deal with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking you to have sympathy for the weird kids, I just think it's important for people your age to understand that most of those kids know how fucked up they seem to everyone else. Most of "us" just want to be normal, but we don't know how to ask for help.
