Texas police officer throws teenage girl to the ground at a pool party

Let me just say this, being a cop sucks. That's why very few people do it. I have family members that wear the badge and you see the toll the job takes on them. For those of you who are making arrogant comments about how all police and/or Texans are racist, go fuck yourself.

We still don't know the full story, it looks like the police were there to handle rowdy kids who snuck into a pool. Maybe they were drunk, maybe they were trespassing, maybe they were fighting. That's all fine, police should be called in those cases.

The problem IS NOT that police were there or that they were called.

Regardless of what happened before the camera started rolling it's clear that this situation got out of hand when it didn't have to, for the first 50 seconds everything looks calm and everyone is cooperating and talking with the police and then within a few minutes a single officer handcuffs a bunch of kids, throws a girl to the ground, and points his weapon on 2 unarmed teens.

That's the real issue here, a single officer was way too aggressive when he didn't have to be. This could have been a simple case of ticketing the kids, having their parents come pick them up, and then putting them in front of a judge so they could do some community service as punishment but obviously that wasn't the case.

TLDR; Officer Casebolt is too tense

0:01 - Officer Casebolt comes in running out of nowhere, everyone looks calm, some kids are standing and sitting around talking, everyone sees him running and looks surprised by this, as if he's overreacting. Notice how there is no police officer behind him at this point but in a few seconds we see another one right behind him.

0:04 - tactical barrel roll flawlessly executed

0:08 - notice this police officer was right behind Officer Casebolt [mentioned in 0:01], he wasn't in the first frame so he was probably off to the side doing whatever and when he saw Officer Casebolt running he followed thinking something was up that he wasn't aware of

0:29 - 0:49 - some kids are calmly and peacefully talking with the police officer, even at this point the situation seems calm and everyone is cooperating. The cameraman goes up to a police officer and hands the officer talking with the kids the flash light that Officer Casebolt dropped when he did a barrel roll. The cameraman says "it was this guys", he is referring to Officer Casebolt.

0:50 - Officer Casebolt appears in frame, whatever emergency he was running to [0:01] appears to have been solved within 50 seconds. He grabs one of the kids that just seconds ago [0:29 - 0:49] was calmly talking to the police officer and orders him on the ground.

0:51 - 1:08 - Officer Casebolt rounds up all the kids that were nearby and tells them to get down on the ground. The two kids in the street see officer Officer Casebolt approaching them as well and get down, he redirects them off the street and into the grass

1:09 - 1:31 - Officer Casebolt walks up to a group of girls talking and says "get your ass out of here" and walks back to the 2 kids that were sitting in the grass and cuffs them

1:31 - 1:35 - kids that were calmly talking to police [0:29 - 0:49] say they were just here for a birthday party, Officer Casebolt says "we'll figure it out in a minute"

1:35 - 1:57 - Officer Casebolt seems to be communicating that he cuffed 2 people

1:58 - 2:03 - a kid says to the Officer Casebolt "officer I can't find my [inaudible]", Officer Casebolt says "I don't care sit down", unknown man in plain clothes repeats the officers command and tells the kid to sit down

2:11 - 2:22 - Officer Casebolt says to the kids on the grass that were speaking to the officer [0:29 - 0:49] "I walk off and you got up and took off, that's evading. Right now you're staying, don't make me fuckin run around here with 30 lbs of god damn gear on in the sun cause ya'll wanna screw around out here". But it seems odd that they would "take off" straight to another officer? Also notice the unknown man again seems to be following Officer Casebolt.

2:20 - You see the group of girls just looking on at the situation as the officer is talking to the kids on the grass.

2:23 - the girl who eventually gets taken down has her back turned at this point to Officer Casebolt

2:24 - 2:43 - Officer Casebolt tells the girls to get their asses out of here and leave, they go back and forward but at 2:43 you see one group of girls going one way, and notice how the girl who gets taken down is way off to the right almost out frame and she is walking in the opposite direction away from the scene.

2:49 - the girl who gets taken down seems to say something that makes Officer Casebolt really mad. At this point they look to be about 15 - 20 yards away from each other

2:50 - Officer Casebolt hears whatever the girl said and redirects his attention to her, points a baton at her and begins to walk towards her

2:55 - 3:00 Officer Casebolt reaches the girl and grabs her, he drags her about 10 - 15 yards in front of the unknown man who seems to be helping Officer Casebolt. The girl does not appear to resist and Officer Casebolt did not struggle to drag her to that point

3:00 - 3:04 - Officer Casebolt pushes the girl down to the ground, everyone seems surprised by this

3:04 - 3:06 - the girl is on her back on the grass, Officer Casebolt still has her by the arm and then more forcefully throws her down to the side walk

3:09 - unknown guy again seems to be assisting Officer Casebolt and his holding people back

3:10 - everyone seems shocked and gathers around the girl & officer, Officer Casebolt obviously senses a threat from the 2 boys who get too close for his comfort

3:11 - Officer Casebolt reaches for his weapon, both feet are on the side walk

3:12 - the kids are backing away, Officer Casebolt still reaching for his weapon, begins to walk towards the 2 boys

3:13 - both of Officer Casebolt's feet are now on the grass as he approaches the boys, his weapon is drawn and in his hand, the boys are now beginning to run away from Officer Casebolt, even when their backs are completely turned away Officer Casebolt seems to be advancing towards them with his weapon drawn

3:15 - 2 police officers come into the frame, their first focus seems to be Officer Casebolt rather then the 2 boys running away. Even though Officer Casebolt had his weapon out, they didn't. They both make contact with him first before focusing their attention on the boy in blue who ran away

3:17 - Officer Casebolt turns his attention back to the girl who is on the ground

3:22 - Officer Casebolt lifts the girl up off the ground

3:23 - Officer Casebolt pushes her back down on the ground

3:25 - Officer Casebolt grabs the back of her head so that she goes down fully

That's about where all the action stops.

at 6:38 Officer Casebolt approaches 2 boys that were talking to the police officer on the grass [0:29 - 0:49] about how he asked them to sit down and they took off
