The worst thing i ever smelled was when i used to be an EMT. we responded to a call at a nursing facility, don’t remember the nature of it. but it was basically a routine transport of an elderly woman to the hospital for evaluation. I remember hearing the staff saying something along the lines of “when was she bathed last? she was supposed to be bathed today” anyways, we get her to the hospital, transfer her to a hospital bed and transfer care to the nurse. just as i’m about ready to turn around and walk away, the patient mentions she has to pee. she was completely immobile so I stayed to help the nurse with a bed pan etc. we remove the patients pants and undergarments and slide a bed pan beneath her and.. oh my god.. the smell emitting from between this woman’s legs was something i could never prepare for. it truly smelled like a fish died and rotted in her pants. i felt horrible. clearly her hygiene was being neglected and she of course couldn’t help it. i started gagging i felt like i was choking on the smell and i couldn’t escape, it was awful.
