Yep but not all states recognize the same forms of ID and all have the same steps to acquire an ID. I think you should have to show an ID to vote, imagine just being able to walk in, give a name, and vote; that is a system waiting to be abused by both parties. But to get a driver's license in Texas, even though I had one in California, I had to show my original birth certificate with the imprinted stamp on it. Imagine being born in Houston and moving 10 hours away to El Paso but not having your original birth certificate. Do you give someone a PoA and have them pick it up, do you drive 20 hours to pick it up, those sort of limitations are unrealistic.
