People are swayed more by their religion than their own family and common sense, it's scary.

My father got a cancerous tumour in his throat and was facing a very risky surgery (10% death rate) , and asked my mother what she'd do with all the money (plus the life insurance).

She said she'd donate it all to the church. Every penny, that they could do good with it.

Now, my mother loves me and my sister very much, she'd give everything for us. Probably loves us more than my father. But she has no concept of money, spends quite a lot wastefully and when my father gets mad that she's pissed it away gets defensive and says "God will provide". This is a woman who hasn't earned a penny for two decades, and earned fuck all before that. An unemployable 55 year old woman with broken English. No, God won't provide won't, my father provides, and he can't once he's gone.

She has no concept of who pays for her goddamn Land Rover, for their lovely house on the ocean, for mine and my sister's university tuition and rent because it's not anywhere near their house. No matter how many times we tell her, she just doesn't get if, she's been brainwashed that hard. She'd fuck herself over harder than she'd be fucking us.

Anyways, after she said that, by the time my father went for surgery I had all the assets in my name, all investments had been transferred to me, and the life insurance policy was solely for me. We're talking several hundred thousand dollars, my clueless mother wasn't even aware I had it all, that she was driving MY Land Rover, living in MY house. I also had the password to all accounts, power of attorney, I was to take care of my family after he passed because my clueless mother would give it all to the church and let us (including herself) fucking starve.

They prey on people like her, good hearted, but absolutely naive. Thankfully my father survived, so I didn't have to become the man of the family just yet, but one day I'll have to take care of my mother, because if left alone she'd give it all to some fucking church and end up on the streets.

These fucking scammers would milk my mother dry given the chance, and they've been indoctrinating her since she was a child, she doesn't just put them before her children's well being, she puts them before her own.
